ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

It shouldn't be a secret that those who are more susceptible to stressors are more vulnerable to burnout. This encompasses everything from women, the BIPOC community, college freshmen, and more. But knowing this, a majority of these groups still find themselves stuck in the vicious cycle of burnout and recovery for years on end. Let's change that.


WORKSHOP CURRICULUM

  • Identifying the ins and outs of burnout: Physical signs and symptoms of burnout such as insomnia, too much sleep, agitation, memory problems, anxiety and more. Mental symptoms such as depersonalization, lack of personal accomplishment, decreased performance.

  • Women and burnout: Understanding how different groups of women have different thresholds for experiencing burnout.

  • Let's get real about mindfulness: Let's all take stock of what is and isn't working for us and learn how to actually be consistent with a mindfulness routine to build resilience. Done through group discussion and guided journal prompts.


ABOUT THE HOST

Demi is a yoga teacher and neuroscientist from New York, USA. She is currently researching neurodegenerative diseases and mood disorders at Columbia University. Prior to this, she spent time conducting research under the African American Neuroscience Initiative, working to understand health disparities within Black Americans that have previously not been investigated. She also spent time researching mindfulness and found ways to bring yoga and meditation to her local community. She is passionate about mental health, mindfulness, and inclusive scientific research.
